July 2, 2025 (PORT SUDAN) – China’s Huawei has proposed building solar power stations in Sudan with a capacity of over 1,000 megawatts (MW), the country’s energy ministry announced on Wednesday, as the conflict-hit nation struggles with extensive damage to its power grid.
The Huawei delegation also presented proposals to support the electricity network in Port Sudan, the eastern city that now serves as a government hub, the ministry said.
The proposal was presented during a meeting in Port Sudan between a Huawei delegation, led by Business Marketing Director Wang Yanlin, and Sudan’s Undersecretary of Energy and Oil, Mohieldin Naim, the ministry stated.
Huawei Energy Storage Systems integrate power electronics, digital, thermal, electrochemical, and AI technologies to implement refined monitoring and management at the cell, battery pack, battery rack, ESS, and power grid levels.
