In solar energy systems, supercapacitors are utilized to address peak power demands or regulate electrical energy flow . These devices provide substantial power to overcome the initial resistance during the startup of solar pumps and ensure reliable power output when operating with grid-connected photovoltaic inverters.
Abeywardana et al. implemented a standalone supercapacitor energy storage system for a solar panel and wireless sensor network (WSN) . Two parallel supercapacitor banks, one for discharging and one for charging, ensure a steady power supply to the sensor network by smoothing out fluctuations from the solar panel.
