Today, apart from the 1 MW wind power plant (composed of 4 wind turbines) in Amdjarass, a town in the east of the country, electricity is only supplied by generators, which regularly break down.

Djermaya’s generation capacity consists of 34 MW of solar and an additional 8 MW-equivalent (4 MWh) in a battery energy storage system (BESS), one of the largest in the region. Once online in 2023, Djermaya is expected to power 60,000 households, reduce the cost of electricity generation, and improve access to cleaner energy.
